General Job Description: Responsible for the safe transportation of the assigned tank vessel(s) and for the safety of the cargo, vessel(s), and crew. Required to perform administrative and supervisory functions. Job Responsibilities And Duties: The job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: • Stands wheelhouse watches underway. Assist the tankerman when preparing for and conducting transfer operations. • Perform the duties of the Vessel Security Officer as outlined in the security plan. • Direct crew in performance of drills. • Determine the need for and assign lookouts as necessary. • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies and regulations. • Prepare, monitor, and update vessel work lists and delivery schedules. • Ensure all crewmen are performing their duties. Skills And Abilities: • Must be proficient with a twin screw tank vessel. • Must have 2 years minimum of two years of experience operating vessels of this class. • Must be able to start up and operate all engine room and auxiliary machinery.
