International Trade Analyst

Job Description

Sidley Austin LLP provides legal advice to U.S. and non-U.S. producers, exporters and importers, including guidance on trade remedy and customs matters. We are seeking an International Trade Analyst to support the Global Arbitration, Trade and Advocacy group. This candidate will support Sidley attorneys, advising clients on international trade compliance, antidumping and countervailing duty (AD/CVD) proceedings, and other trade-related matters. A broad knowledge of international trade laws and regulations, along with strong analytical skills, is essential. Duties and Responsibilities: Trade Compliance and Analysis: Conducting antidumping (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) proceedings, including preparing detailed sales, cost of production, subsidy, and injury responses. Working with domestic producers to prepare AD/CVD feasibility studies and petitions. Assisting clients in setting up AD/CVD monitoring systems to optimize compliance and lower AD/CVD exposure. Preparing and analyzing databases and other exhibits for AD/CVD proceedings. Conducting research related to AD/CVD proceedings. Tracking other trade remedy developments (e.g., Section 232, Section 301, etc.). Documentation and Reporting: Assisting with the preparation, review, and editing of various documents and spreadsheets, including questionnaire responses and exhibits, briefs, proposals, and reports. Maintaining accurate daily records of time and expenses, monitoring progress against task budgets. Client and Team Support: Assisting other Sidley professionals with special assignments or projects as needed, possibly including marketing and data management. Conducting training sessions for clients on trade compliance and related topics. Education and/or Experience: Required: Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Economics, Business, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience with U.S. antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings, either at the Department of Commerce, International Trade Commission, or in the private sector. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong research skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently. Proficiency with MS Office, notably Excel. Preferred: Experience with Section 232, Section 301, or other trade remedy proceedings. Knowledge of U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS). Familiarity with the Department of Commerce’s calculations, including SAS programming used to calculate AD margins and methodologies used to calculate subsidy rates. PATH’s IT department oversees all technology-related services for the organization globally. The department is responsible for all software application services, network infrastructure, computer support, IT vendor management, and program and project management for PATH’s IT initiatives. PATH seeks to recruit an IT Officer who will be responsible for providing support to end-users, including staff based in Abuja and field sites, in computer networks, maintenance of the computers, servers, UPS, printing equipment, and networking infrastructure. The IT Officer will be based in Abuja and will work alongside the larger International IT team and the PATH Nigeria team. The role will report to the Lead Regional System Administrator and will require periodic travel to field programs under the supervision of the Lead RSA. Specific responsibilities: Handle staff IT support requests and assist HQ IT engineers with network and server troubleshooting. Conduct periodic one-on-one and small group training sessions to ensure the successful adoption and ongoing effective use of PATH’s IT solutions, including Office 365, MS Teams, One-Drive, BOX, and SharePoint. Conduct introductory sessions for new staff to familiarize them with IT solutions and policies. Ensure data backups are running reliably and that data is secure. Maintain staff PCs and printers. Keep the supervisor fully informed daily of all IT problems and advise on what steps are being taken to resolve any problems. Convene quarterly meetings to brief the supervisor, discuss any performance issues and provide information and feedback concerning IT operations in the project. Use the global helpdesk ticketing system to log all support requests and document them fully. Schedule preventive maintenance of all IT equipment, and supervise the same. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all IT equipment, both on- and off-site. Liaise with the ISP to ensure continued availability of the Internet. Any other IT-related assignment as determined by the Lead, Regional Systems Administrator or Site Admin. Required Skills Excellent PC troubleshooting skills. Proven expertise in IT network administration. Ability to accurately and completely log incidents in a ticketing system. Experience in conducting personal and small group IT training sessions and a passion for teaching people about new technologies. Basic server and network troubleshooting skills; the ability to follow instructions when acting as remote hands for HQ engineering staff. Understanding wired and wireless LANs, VPNs, and the ability to diagnose network issues using commonly available tools such as traceroute, ping, and pathping. Knowledge in Virtualization and Cloud infrastructure management. Good communication skills. Ability to travel up to 15% of allocated time. Candidates must have legal authorization to work in Nigeria.
